Fuji

Fuji

Originated in Japan, 1962

  • Description: This immensely flavorful variety was introduced to the U.S. from Japan in the 1980's. It's known for its hard texture and syrupy sweetness.
  • Parentage: A cross of Red Delicious and Ralls Janet. Introduced into the U.S. in the 1980's.
  • Availability: Harvested in October. Available from October through August.
  • Usage: This very sweet and crisp apple is great for snacking but makes a great baking apple because it holds its texture. Fuji are also excellent for use in salads. Rainier offers numerous apple varieties. Varieties available but not pictured are Akane, Ambrosia, Empire, Jonathan and Pacific Rose.
